Gospel – Mark 13-14
Sometimes when I read the prophecies in the Bible, words written at least 2000 years ago and fulfiling today, I feel that I should simply copy and paste the words on the internet for my friends to read; I do not even need to say anything else, for these words in the Bible have said what is happening and what will be happening.
Bible Passage: Mark 13-14
Yet many people of the world still do not even know that there are such prophecies. And if we heed these words, they can save our lives.
So here we read the words of Jesus just before He was betrayed. All these words Jesus said tells us that we can expect in the Last Days, and if we pay attention to them, will make us realise that the Day of Judgment is not far, for the signs are evident.
Mark 13:2 “Do you see these great buildings? Not one stone shall be left upon another, that shall not be thrown down.”
13:5 …“Take heed that no one deceives you. 6 For many will come in My name, saying, ‘I am He,’ and will deceive many. 7 But when you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be troubled; for such things must happen, but the end is not yet. 8 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be earthquakes in various places, and there will be famines and troubles. These are the beginnings of sorrows.”
13:12 “Now brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death.”
13:13 “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end shall be saved.”
13: 22 “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”
13:29 “So you also, when you see these things happening, know that it is near—at the doors!”
13:31 “Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.”
The Bible has existed for about 2000 years, and the words are speaking so true about the times today. Just being ignorant of it does not mean that it does not exist.
Some people may think that everyone knows who Jesus is and what is his story about, but the truth is only a small percentage heard the full story and the rest hardly knows what Jesus spoke about.
The Bible tells us that true Christians will be hated for the name of Jesus.
So all those teachings about going into the world to influence others, and being accepted by the world, being blessed by God on earth to gain more and more wealth to glorify Him, all these are all false teachings.
If we are not hated by the world or persecuted for His name’s sake, it probably shows that we have not fought for Christ hard enough.
If our Christian life has no struggle, then we are not taking up the sword of the Word.
If worshipping God makes you invest more in this world and not in heaven, then you are worshipping the wrong god.
His kingdom is not of this world. Our Christian hope is not of this world.
Earning lots of money does not bring glory to God. Being the top musician, top athelete, top in your career, adds no glory to the cross of our Lord.
The truth doesn’t change with times.
The church doesn’t change with society. 2000 years ago the world is dying. Today the world is still dying and needs saving as much as it did 2000 years ago. The day of His coming is nearer than we first believe.

14:4-5 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was the fragrant oil wasted? For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply.
During Lord Jesus’ three years ministry on earth, there were no record that He used money to help others. (if there was, please tell me, i may have missed it) Lord Jesus used 2 loaves and 5 fish to feed 5000+(Mk6:38-44). He used 7 loaves and a few small fish to feed 4000+(Mk8:5-9)
14:6-9 Lord Jesus rebuked them.
Lord Jesus rebuked them not for “the poor with them always”, not for “the alabaster flask of fragrant oil”
Lord Jesus rebuked them for listened but not heard. The woman had heard the words of Lord Jesus and did what she could to prepare His body for burial.
This is what Lord Jesus wants us to remember her for too. Heed the words of Lord Jesus and do accordinly.
We have no need to prepare for His burial. We are to prepare for His coming:
13:26-27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in the clouds with great power and glory. And then He will send His angels, and gather together His elect from the four winds, from the farthest part of the earth to the farthest part of heaven.
