Poetry – Job 9 – 10

I am not sure about you, although the book of Job is interesting to read, I do find it hard to really understand it all.
But let’s see what we can learn from today’s reading…
Bible Passage: Job 9 – 10
Here are some interesting (and some say gross) facts about our bodies:
- In one day, a human sheds 10 billion skin flakes. This amounts to approximately two kilograms in a year.
- Every square inch of the human body has about 19,000,000 skin cells.
- Every hour one billion cells in the body must be replaced.
- The small intestine in the human body is about 2 inches around, and 22 feet long.
- The human body makes anywhere from 1 to 3 pints of saliva every 24 hours.
- The human body has approximately 37,000 miles of capillaries.
- The adult human body requires about 88 pounds of oxygen daily.
- The width of your armspan stretched out is the length of your whole body.
- The average human brain has about 100 billion nerve cells.
- Nerve impulses to and from the brain travel as fast as 170 miles (274 km) per hour.
- It’s impossible to sneeze with your eyes open.
- It takes the interaction of 72 different muscles to produce human speech.
- Relative to size, the strongest muscle in the body is the tongue.
- Babies are born without knee caps. They don’t appear until the child reaches 2-6 years of age.
- Women blink nearly twice as much as men.
- An average human scalp has 100,000 hairs.
- Your skull is made up of 29 different bones.
- The human body is comprised of 80% water.
- Every year about 98% of the atoms in your body are replaced.
- You were born with 300 bones. When you get to be an adult, you have 206.
- The human heart creates enough pressure to squirt blood 30 feet (9 m).
- The average human heart will beat 3,000 million times in its lifetime and pump 48 million gallons of blood.
- Human blood travels 60,000 miles (96,540 km) per day on its journey through the body.
Whew! That is a pretty long list of facts isn’t it? I don’t expect you to memorise or know them all! In fact, I would be very surprised if you actually read every single one of them!
And that is just the tip of the ice-berg on facts of the body. I could fill a whole book describing the amazing body that God has given us but I won’t.
Even back in the ancient days, Job knew that all mankind are the amazing handiwork of God.
Job 10:8-11
” ‘Your hands have made me and fashioned me,
An intricate unity;
Yet You would destroy me.
Remember, I pray, that You have made me like clay.
And will You turn me into dust again?”
Did You not pour me out like milk,
And curdle me like cheese,
Clothe me with skin and flesh,
And knit me together with bones and sinews?”
Job knew very well that God had fashioned him from the womb and that he was God’s handiwork. And yet, I doubt he knew any of the facts that I have mentioned earlier because science was simply not that advanced in those days.
But he knew God was the Creator of all things and made them wonderful. Perhaps that was why Job was so distressed. He felt that he had been mistreated by God even though he was certain he was God’s creation!
However, we see that even in the midst of his bitter complaints, he had a genuine heart for God and continued to hope in God’s grace and remembered His many blessing. How do we know this?
Job 10:12
“You have granted me life and favor,
And Your care has preserved my spirit.”
This is something we should learn and believe that God sustains all those who continue to fear Him, even when it feels as though we are left on our own to suffer.
God is our Maker and He knows Us inside out!

The 2nd video says 80% of the brain (not body) is water.
Shows you can’t believe everything you see or hear on the Internet
Yep! There is only one source for all truth and that is the B – I – B – L – E ! Bible!
Wow, i would have missed it if Beng Huat has not pointed it out. May be 80% of my brain is water indeed.
How did Job know that he was made by God when he was actually brought out of his mother’s womb? There was no bible then. Must be his parents who told him.
How did Job know that he was made of dust and would return to dust? Must be his parents who told him.
Huh??? Remember to teach the words of God diligently to our children, and shall talk of them when we sit, walk, lie down and rise up.
