Poetry – Job 13 – 14

Job did not think the advice from his friends amounted to much, and said it so directly!

Job desired to speak with God rather than “forgers of lies” and “worthless physicians”.

What else did he say?  Read on…

Bible Passage:  Job 13-14

Job continues to discuss the question of the mortality of man in Chapter 14.

He talked about how when man dies, that is the end of him in this world.  But is that the end of it all?

Job 14:14

If a man dies, shall he live again?…”

The age old question that man through all ages have asked.

“When we die, is it the end of it all?”

“Is there a heaven or hell?”

“Where do we go from death?”

As Christians, we should be very sure of the answer.

Are you?

And after knowing the answer, what are you doing anything about it?

Preacher Aun Quek’s sermon on Saturday was a very good one.  He reminded us that as Christians, we should always be looking to move towards “Higher Ground” (hey, didn’t we talk about that yesterday?).

And one of the “Higher Grounds” we should be going towards is Mount of Olives because it reminds us of the 2nd coming of Jesus.

But the bigger question is this… “How much do you really believe that Jesus will come again?”

And the way to test our faith and belief is in how much do we long for the coming of Jesus and what are we doing now to prepare for His coming.

Unlike Job, we have an abundance of evidences that tells us that the coming of Christ is at hand and since He is coming, there will surely be a Heaven and hell.

We have the complete Scriptures – that shows us God’s wonderful Salvation plan.

We have the Holy Spirit – which is not only our guarantee to the inheritance of the heavenly kingdom – but also tells us for sure that Jesus has gone to heaven to prepare a place for us.  And when it is ready, He will come back and take us there.

We see the fulfillment of the prophecies day by day.

So we are in a distinct advantage over Job.

But Job had a certain confidence that he would see God after he dies.  In fact, in the latter part of Job (Job 19:25-27) – he declares “I know that my Redeemer lives!”

Do we have that same conviction today?

  1. Hallelujah :D

14:13-14 is the lamentation of Job. It sounded like what a man waiting for reseurrection (Jesus during the 3 unknown days?) can utter too.

14:15 Yes when Lord Jesus comes again, He shall call and we have to answer Him. He shall desire the work of His hands. m i ready to give account of the 1 talent which He has given me? m i ready to account for the days i was in His vineyard yet did not bear fruits?
